The Good Yarn is an art-in-education project that draws inspiration from Galway’s merchant and mariner past, specifically the lucrative wool trade of South County Galway. Through a series of in-school creative workshops, artist-educator Jojo Hynes engaged with primary pupils in the coastal area of Kinvara to explore narratives of nostalgia, alternative economies and future culture in response to their local environment. Pupils responded to the curatorial ideas underpinning the festival through visual enquiry and intergenerational participation.
